Our STORy

Mark Trombino, after two decades shaping hits like Blink-182’s “Dude Ranch” and Jimmy Eat World’s “Bleed American,” dreamed of a different kind of masterpiece. One glazed, sprinkled, and consumed with gusto, not just listened to. Inspired by an idea too good to ignore, he embarked on a delicious mission to create a donut utopia, crafted by you.

His vision? A shop where donuts weren’t pre-made pastries, but blank canvases for your wildest donut dreams. Imagine a symphony of fresh dough, decadent fillings, and playful toppings, waiting to be orchestrated into your perfect bite. Open late, affordable, and secretly vegan? Yes, please!

After devouring every YouTube video available and putting himself through a rigorous donut making bootcamp, Donut Friend rose in Highland Park in 2013. Punny names like “Jimmy Eat Swirl” and “Bacon 182” danced alongside unique flavors and endless customization, and Angelenos (and the media) couldn’t resist.

But Mark wasn’t done. In 2020, his sweet tooth craved a new challenge: plant-based ice cream. Thus, Creamo was born, a sister concept churning out scoops inspired by Donut Friend’s beloved flavors. Both shops, fueled by fresh ingredients and infectious smiles, became local legends.

A lot has changed since we opened our first location over a decade ago, but we still offer an elevated yet accessible, 100% plant-based experience, proving that deliciousness and ethical choices can be BFFs.
